What's Really in Your Heart
Once again I come to you on the coat-tails of the illustrious #AngelaReynolds lifecoach and healer at #ThinkFeelGrowRepeat, she is simply masterful.
The principle she is advocating this week is about self control. Now there's a good principle for fitness!
Angela mentions, again I highly recommend you have a look at her video on my Facebook page, the pull of our intuition, or our soul, telling us we need to do something, and funnily enough she refers to someone being pulled to go to the gym even though he/she would prefer the feeling of lying on he couch and watching TV.
I know what you are thinking, "Oh lord Anna, can't we just chill sometimes and not push ourselves", Well... no, not really. Obviously, we all need to rest, we all need a little rejuvination from time to time, however, it is very important we be able to define the difference between when our deepest parts (I call this a soul), are telling us to take it easy, and our ego, or conscious mind, is telling us we don't want to do something, or even more, we are AFRAID to do something less comfortable in the immediate, but better for our lives
Hmmm... now that's interesting territory. Fear of Change= Laziness? Yep, kinda.
I'll tell you a secret: what holds us back from achieving everything we desire in life... is us. We have the personal power, #SelfControl to have everything, but we allow it to be dormant and replace it with immediate comfort or gratification. My friends, in this, we cannot grow, we cannot get better. Immediate gratification, mostly has a very fast expiration, i.e. the comfort of eating bad food, drinking alcohol (- not that I don't enjoy a scotch once in a while myself), lying around in place of healthy activity, buying something you really cannot afford, AND, to add insult to injury, that expiration also mostly comes with detriment to ourselves- hangover, weight gain, debt... yeah, I don't like that prognosis either.
Ok, so now you kinda catch my drift about discipline, listening to that voice that says, you don't need another black dress, go run on the treadmill instead- what about fear, how does it relate?
So, I read another blog, it's called TwinFlames11:11.com - not cause I'm a hopeless romantic, there is nothing hopeless in my version of romance, but that's besides the point, more because the twin flame is really about the alignment with oneself as opposed to searching for love outside... anyway, in one of her blogs, Cassidy Cayne, the author, mentions the difference between your intuition and you "gut instinct"- and the truth is our guts can often tell us we are afraid, that butterfly feeling, knot in your stomach, not-so-sure feeling...where is this going??? - Stay with me-
Do you remember the last time you fell in love? I hope so... and what does it feel like??? Knot in the stomach, butterflies etc. My friends, this is fight our flight, this a normal hormonal reaction to change, not your intuition telling you no. Your heart is where you should be looking for answers, your heart will tell you if something is right even when your gut says "oooohhhh.... scary...."
Ok, so now, I've dispelled this whole culture of "listen to your gut"... oh gosh, you might hate me, or at least wonder what the heck to do when faced with decision making if you can no longer trust your "gut".
I will actually give you physical steps you can take to tune into your HEART and get out of your place of fear:
First: Breathe!!! Take five long slow deep breaths, hold at the top for 3 counts, and release for 5. It will calm your nerves and take away that jittery butterfly feeling.
Second: put your hand over heart and imagine the thing, event, person, or decision in question. What do you feel? Happy, positive, confused, unsure- cool, no right or wrong, all good things to know.
Finally:from this feeling, see how to handle a situation with the best results for YOU and anyone else involved.
Ladies and gents, we have just moved from a place of fear and doubt to a place of affirmative action.... WOAH... in like 2 minutes.
On my two year hiatus from competing, the thought of getting on stage again nearly made me dizzy, I made every excuse not to do it, wanting to stick to some version of life less effective and more comfortable, I would go out drinking and eating, and have fun, feel this horrible feeling the next day. Not just physical, but this disappointment of pushing myself further away from my true passion and strength.Every time I saw pics of myself or other competitors, I wanted to cry... my heart was speaking ... I finally listened, and my life changed completely.
Unfortunately, this work never stops. We have to exercise self control, personal power, and tuning in to what our heart and soul tells us everyday. However, VERY fortunately, as you work on these things, it becomes innate in everything you do, and you will ultimately live a much fuller better existence.
Have an awesome Sunday everyone.
Much love to ya!
Anna
